A pause for yourself

Breath Slow

Breath Slow is a simple web app for slow breathing that can help ease tension a little and bring attention back to the body.

The idea behind the project

The idea grew out of a very specific problem: when someone feels anxious or frightened, or a panic attack is starting, they often have no capacity to search for a suitable app, download and install it, go through onboarding, learn the interface, create an account, or suddenly run into advertising and a paywall. Even a few extra steps can become too great a barrier in that moment.

That is why Breath Slow opens directly in the browser and is ready to use. If you do not want to configure anything, you can simply open the page and begin the breathing practice immediately. You do not even need to press Start.

To make it easier to keep attention on the rhythm, you can follow the breathing circle not only with your eyes, but also with a mouse or a finger. This adds simple physical feedback and makes it easier to stay with the practice.

If you want to adapt the experience, there are flexible settings and several breathing modes. They are kept in a side panel so they do not clutter the main screen until they are needed.

The app includes regular slow breathing, extended exhalation, box breathing, the physiological sigh, and a reduced-ventilation mode for hyperventilation. You can change the pace, turn on music, choose a theme, and adjust visual effects and accessibility settings.

All user settings are stored locally on the device. The service requires no account and does not collect personal data in order to work.

The project’s main principle is to remove everything unnecessary between a person and the practice itself. If the service is needed during an unpleasant or anxious moment, it should be available immediately rather than demand one more small struggle with an interface.
